Plain And Simple Joy
Another one for the ages. None of the pundits said we could do it. Each said the Cardinals would take game 7 and go to the World Series. Every picture tells a story. Pundits. Ha! Meet the "never say die" San Francisco Giants.

We Fight On
Doubting Dora that I can be had few if any expectations except defeat last night as the Giants played a must win or go home game in St. Louis. Wasn't convinced that Zito could pitch well against that powerful Cardinal line up. Gleefully pleased to be proven wrong. He was in a zone. Pitched a brilliant game and the boys backed him up with hits. Giants won 5-0. So back to the City By The Bay where the fans will give it their all to propel the team to another win. Let's Go Giants!

Last Voyage
Woke up early and turned on the local morning news. Seems the Shuttle was 5 hours behind on it's trek from LAX to the CA Science Center at Exposition Park. Was supposed to have gotten there last night. It hadn't. I'd not gone to view this momentous occasion yesterday. Didn't wish to deal with the traffic or crowds. Felt different at 6:30am this morning. So the hound and I set off down Arlington to MLK Blvd. Took all of 15 minutes. There were throngs of people but mostly folks from the surrounding neighborhood. As Ramona and I got closer I asked a group of people who were sitting on their front lawn "was it worth it?" "Oh yes," was the reply with smiles on their faces.
They were right, it was. Welcome Home Endeavour!

It's Exhausting
Oh my. I love baseball. I love my Giants. Another great season. Then in the two first games of the best of 5 series against the Reds we couldn't pitch, couldn't hit, couldn't win. We were in our home ball park. How could this be? Like watching dominos fall. Off we flew to Cincinnati. We were down 2-0.We won game 3. Yippee. We won game 4. OMG!!!! We were back. The boys were hitting. Timmy was brought in as a reliever and looked like the two time Cy Young winner Timmy of old. Today we played for all the marbles. Brutal game. Brutal. Yes, we took an early lead and then Buster hit the Grand Slam in the 5th. Long way to go though. Reds started chipping away. Bochy was doing his usual bullpen dance which always makes me nervous. We made it through the 6th, 7th, 8th and into the 9th when Romo came in. I was at my wit's end by now.Had turned the sound off and could barely watch. Reds got another run.Now it's 6-4 with two men on base with one out. Romo was pitching to Jay Bruce. 11 pitches fouled off before Romo got him to fly out. Thought I was going to faint. Still two men on base. Rolen at the plate and Romo did what he was supposed to do, struck him out. GIANTS WIN! GIANTS WIN! No other team has accomplished coming back from 2-0 down to win. What a team!! Everyone contributed in today's win. Crawford had a triple, Buster the 4 bagger, Angel a brilliant catch, Cain held his own, and on and on. TEAM ball!!! So do we face the unbelievable Nationals or St Louis Cardinals for the NCLS? Nats were in a must win situation tonight and won via a walk off home run. They play to tie up the series. I bet Mark is a nervous wreck. I love October. The TBS promo is true. October Baseball, Where Legends Are Made!

Lamenting
Losing the ability to listen to coverage of a baseball game for free. Can no longer listen to KNBR to hear a Giants game. MUST pay for MLB coverage to do so. What a crock of shit!!! Nothing but greed. Will say NOTHING better than beating the Dodgers last night and keeping them out of the playoffs!!! Sweeeeeeeeeeeet. Long, tense game and when Vin Scully quotes Dylan Thomas, "do not go gentle into that good night," you know it was a battle. We won 4-3. Money doesn't always talk, they spent a bundle to add players but my Gigantes are in the Playoffs, as are the A's, Nats, Tigers, O's, all smaller organizations. Makes me smile. Now if we can keep the Yankees out of the World Series all will be well.
