Georgia Pig

Yes, said I was going to Cuba via Miami so what's with Georgia? BBQ that's what's with Georgia, the Georgia Pig outside of Ft. Lauderdale. Saw it online and told Pat that's where I want to eat when I arrive.Even though I landed at 3:30pm that was EST not PST so it was lunchtime!!! Been there since the 50's.  Good stuff!!  Perfect way to start the Miami/Cuba

adventure.  

12 Hours and Counting

Departing for the dreadful LAX in the wee hours tomorrow to catch my 8am flight to Miami. Still not feeling the excitement but once I see that the rest of the gang has made it safely to Miami and we are ready to rock and roll I'll definitely get emotional.  Lots of effort went into planning this Cuba visit. Very proud of myself for pulling it all together. Un abrazo y hasta pronto! 

Getting Ready

Spent the early hours of this Saturday morning packing for my trip to Cuba. Don't leave until after Thanksgiving but this is my usual travel m.o. Tried stuffing everything into a carryon BUT given I'm taking items for show and tell at the film school, along with gifts, the issue of too much weigh has come into play. Drat! That means, checking a bag. Oh the horrors!!!  Ah well, I'll have the laptop and camera in the back pack carryon so if my luggage is lost....  Not yet excited about this trip.  Those emotions will evolve once I'm in Miami I think. Till then.........

Basking In The Orange Glow

The victory parade for the Giants was yesterday.  Didn't fly up for it. From my POV, having gone to the first EVER San Francisco World Series victory parade in 2010....well, couldn't have topped those emotions, not after 50 years of waiting. As it was Halloween, fans were decked only as San Franciscans can be!

Not to mention our closer Sergio Romo who wore a tee shirt 

proclaiming I ONLY LOOK ILLEGAL!

One win away.  Three simple words. My Gboys can win the World Series tonight and sweep the Detroit Tigers 4-0.  Let the party begin. Let's Go Giants!

                                                       

Plain And Simple Joy

Another one for the ages. None of the pundits said we could do it. Each said the Cardinals would take game 7 and go to the World Series.  Every picture tells a story. Pundits. Ha! Meet the "never say die" San Francisco Giants.

We Fight On

Doubting Dora that I can be had few if any expectations except defeat last night as the Giants played a must win or go home game in St. Louis.  Wasn't convinced that Zito could pitch well against that powerful Cardinal line up.  Gleefully pleased to be proven wrong. He was in a zone. Pitched a brilliant game and the boys backed him up with hits. Giants won 5-0.  So back to the City By The Bay where the fans will give it their all to propel the team to another win.  Let's Go Giants! 

Last Voyage

Woke up early and turned on the local morning news. Seems the Shuttle was 5 hours behind on it's trek from LAX to the CA Science Center at Exposition Park. Was supposed to have gotten there last night. It hadn't.  I'd not gone to view this momentous occasion yesterday. Didn't wish to deal with the traffic or crowds.  Felt different at 6:30am this morning.  So the hound and I set off down Arlington to MLK Blvd.  Took all of 15 minutes.  There were throngs of people but mostly folks from the surrounding neighborhood.  As Ramona and I got closer I asked a group of people who were sitting on their front lawn "was it worth it?"  "Oh yes," was the reply with smiles on their faces. 
           They were right, it was. Welcome Home Endeavour!
