Sloooooooow Motion

That's the internet speed in Cuba. Apologies folks but trying to blog with pictures was a frustration I wasn't willing to experience.  So this is an after the fact blog about the Cuba adventure. Flew back to the states yesterday. Reviewing all the photos. Holly cow I shot a lot!! Too bad far too many aren't in perfect focus. Something was up with my SLR camera and I dropped the point and shoot and broke the LCD screen.  Solidered on. Should be enough good ones to share. Once we got settled, met faculty, staff, students and the campus   pets, we made certain we were all connected.  Better internet speed at the EICTV campus than in the Havana hotel.  Go figure.
That's Oriel and the woman who came over to assist all of us in getting online.
David, Bernie and Kim checking in.
This was our buddy. We named him Charlie.

The Havana Film School

Large campus about 30 miles outside Cuba. Let my pics give you idea of what's there.

Where students and faculty reside.
Guests are invited to sign the walls. Bernie and I were amused when we saw Greg Hoblit's name.
Brilliant!
Local help enjoying a moment.
Lunch at the campus Paladar.
The Divine Miss B on her British cell which worked.
David Robinson, Bernie Caufield, Dr. Kim Hammond
This is the shed where they practice lighting sets
Wardrobe department
This employee has a tricked out Chevy AND he
s loading case upon case of Cristal Beer into it.
What's this on campus? Cristal? Reminded me of the Spartan Pub at SJSU!
Oriel in the campus theatre.
Plant life.
Basketball court.
The farm hands who grow the food that is served at the school.
Lest you think this campus is lacking may I point out that the students use Arri's Alexa cameras for their projects. The Game of Thrones uses
Alexas. Get the picture??!!

Viva!

I swear we should be paid for doing an Apple commercial.
Here are Mdmes. Caufield and Haecker at the airport checking emails just before we board our charter flight to Havana.
Bernie had me in hysterics when she was reading aloud and said
"Have You suffered!?! Hell yes, I'm in production." We then got sillier...
They started announcing how to exit the plane and we noticed that you tie something to the handrail with a string. Bernie called them IKEA airlines and Nancy chimed in with "I'm good at tying knots."

Georgia Pig

Yes, said I was going to Cuba via Miami so what's with Georgia? BBQ that's what's with Georgia, the Georgia Pig outside of Ft. Lauderdale. Saw it online and told Pat that's where I want to eat when I arrive.Even though I landed at 3:30pm that was EST not PST so it was lunchtime!!! Been there since the 50's.  Good stuff!!  Perfect way to start the Miami/Cuba
adventure.

12 Hours and Counting

Departing for the dreadful LAX in the wee hours tomorrow to catch my 8am flight to Miami. Still not feeling the excitement but once I see that the rest of the gang has made it safely to Miami and we are ready to rock and roll I'll definitely get emotional.  Lots of effort went into planning this Cuba visit. Very proud of myself for pulling it all together. Un abrazo y hasta pronto!

Getting Ready

Spent the early hours of this Saturday morning packing for my trip to Cuba. Don't leave until after Thanksgiving but this is my usual travel m.o. Tried stuffing everything into a carryon BUT given I'm taking items for show and tell at the film school, along with gifts, the issue of too much weigh has come into play. Drat! That means, checking a bag. Oh the horrors!!!  Ah well, I'll have the laptop and camera in the back pack carryon so if my luggage is lost....  Not yet excited about this trip.  Those emotions will evolve once I'm in Miami I think. Till then.........
