Fuera De Servicio

Day two in Havana began with a strong storm front passing through.  Adapted and the Museum of Revolution became our fall back.  The "boys" has bonded via a late night pub crawl and looked a little worse for the wear. Still they were game, so off we went.
Inside the elevator. Always made me laugh.
Coco taxis in the rain
Rain yet blue sky. Hopeful.
Museum of Revolution
She's British. He's Che.
Architecturally rich building.
Perusing the bookstore
The Orge Effect
Fidel's Rise to Power
The Women of the Revolution
Now that's a proper title!!!
Rumble in the Jungle
"I need air!"
The ceiling of the ballroom.
Busted!
Who's That?
Miss Bernie
Moi
Yep, bullet holes
Pretty much describes the state of the country now.

Dinner at La Guarida

This is the most famous Paladar in Havana.  It appeared in a film and gained it's fame.  It's on the top floor of an intriguing apartment building that is a photographer's delight.  I didn't do it justice but.....
The building is still occupied by families, thus the laundry hanging, neighbors playing dominos, et al. Food was fine but not the best meal we ate in Havana.

Hotel Nacionale

This venerable hotel was hosting the Film Festival. Built in 1930 it was THE spot for American travelers prior to the Embargo. Everyone from Sinatra to Mickey Mantle to The Duke stayed there in it's glory days. It's where infamous Mob summit of 1946 dramatized in The Godfather took place. Loads of history.
                                                       Que Pasa?
The world famous bar complete with pictures of politicians, mobsters and movie stars.
Lovely patio which we quickly learned to enjoy.
Smiles all around
Nose hairs begone!

Havana Day 1

Must say that posting pics after the fact is a bit of a pain in the ass.  Especially when you've taken far tooooooo many pictures.  For future sojourns no DSLR, only a point and shoot camera.

After we all settled into the Melia Cohiba Hotel it was cocktail time so Oriel took us all (except Nancy who disappeared. Sensing a theme here) to a bar high atop a building with a lovely view of Havana at sunset.
A monstrosity of sorts but the hot water was plentiful and the rooms HUGE!

That's the Hotel Nacionale our next cocktail hot spot.
New take on my "where have my feet been" pics.
