Good Day LA
Played Trivial Pursuit with friends last night. Still amused how the excuse "my parents wouldn't let me watch TV" was uttered by more than one participant when they were stumped but when I said something about Petticoat Junction, they were able to break into the show's theme song without missing a beat. Funny how that works! Alcohol was consumed during the evening but I was up and out the door this morning for the trek up to the Griffith Park helipad. Caught the sunrise as Ramona and I hit Vista De Valle. Lovely sojourn. Weather couldn't be better this week.

January 18
Winter? Not here of course. Stellar weather for the past two weeks. That's one reason why nearly 10 million people live in LA County. Gotta love the fact it's January and it will be 77 degrees today. Ramona's happy about it! Guess I am as well.

Sojourns
Snapping pics on the Mt. Hollywood trail. The gorgeous sunrise provides the golden hue, the shadows are Ramona, myself and my friend Bernie.
Really fun when someone else treks along with you. Blabbing away you're always surprised when you've reached the top. No time to whine.

Coyote Moon
So the moon wasn't out but this coyote was.
Perched high above the trail it was watching Ramona and I as we made our way back down from our predawn outing to Mt. Hollywood.
Had actually seen another one earlier. It had run across the trail. Mona missed it. She was preoccupied sniffing out at a bunny hole. Loads of coyotes in Griffith Park. Some mornings they'll yelp and howl to one another. People on the trails just keep moving.

2011
Listening to Bob Eubanks and Stephanie Edwards of KTLA announce the Rose Parade. Once again the rest of the country gets to envy the sunshine of Pasadena. A brisk 41 degrees. Can only imagine the visitors from Wisconsin are thinking it's heaven. Used to attend the parade yearly, getting up at 3am to do. Things change but my love of watching it never will. Having worked on a float or two I can say they are unique works of art. Covered only with flowers, seeds, bark, straw, etc. Never any paint. The floats are huge and impressive. If you've never attended you should. At least once. So after a nice stroll with the hound to see the sunrise, I'm comfortably ensconced at home watching THE parade of the year and sipping java. What's not to like on the first day of New Year!
