Haven't told you about the fellow travelers on the tour. Diverse group. We have Ben and Bonnie a 60+ couple from Texas who came on the tour with their daughter Rebecca and her beau Geoffery. Bonnie reminds me of the late Ann Richards, Governor of Texas, in thought and deed. Liberal in her thoughts, dislikes FOX News, not a Bush supporter, loves to travel, great sense of humor. This morning she walked into the breakfast room and announced to everyone she and Maggie were having a Hooka blowing smoke contest tonight. Seems some of our group went out on the town last night and wound up acting like 12 year olds at a Hooka bar. Maggie has photos and no, I wasn't there so you won't be seeing anything on Youtube!!! Anyway, Ben and Bonnie completely dispel the image Europeans and even their fellow countrymen have of Texans.
Dennis Burgess is retired school teacher. Speech, debate and drama. Native Michigander. Lives in Kalamazoo. I suspect he is in his late 70's but you'd never know it. Thin and wiry moves like a Stealth. This is his 5th or 6th Rick Steve's tour. One day we split off from the group and visited a famous tower (sorry I cannot remember my name so don't expect me to remember the tower's) to get a 360 view of Istanbul. You pay to go up the elevator and then have to climb fours sets of winding tiny stairs. I thought he'd have trouble. It was me who was huffing and puffing toward the end. We each have a buddy we have to keep track of and he's Maggie's. The first day or tow all of us thought we needed to take care of him. We've all found out we're dead wrong.
A couple of life long friends are here. Jodi, from Culver City and her best buddy Nancy. Long ago they agree when Jodi turned 40 they'd go on a trip together. So here they are. Some where along the line I've missed why Mert calls them the cul de sac girls but they laugh each time.
There are many more interesting tour members but I'm tired of writing, need a nosh and then MUST post some more pictures. To tell ya the truth when my camera battery died this afternoon and I realized I hadn't brought the spare, I was relieved.
Do you realize we haven't turned the TV on once. I find that amazing. BTW what's this about Zsa Zsa being a new mother? Huh?
