Continuity

FINALLY got the internal clock back on Pacific Standard Time.  Took about 4 days of odd sleep hours to do so but I'm BACK!  Thus the pre dawn sojourn up the Charlie Turner Trail this morning.  Here's the City of Angels as I coming back down the trail.  The Observatory in front, downtown LA and urban sprawl  behind it.

70's today, November 25, 2013.
Must say it did my heart wonders to take the hike and feel the burn but more importantly to see Marina on the trail.  Marina is 82 and does the trek nearly every day.  Ramona used to love Marina dashing up to her and sitting waiting for a hello.  All very sweet.  I'd not seen her the week before I left and was concerned.  Thankfully as I made my way back down I noticed her coming up the trail. Felt a smile cross my face.  We hugged, chatted, then parted ways.
As I neared the very bottom of the trail saw Councilman La Bonge and his cohort just beginning the trek. A hearty "hello there" was exchanged.
Continuity.

November 22

No conspiracy, plain and simple. Oswald did it. Selfish and unstable he took a rifle and ended a nation's dreams.

End of The Story

Awoke to snow on the foothills.  Nice surprise for my last full day in Belfast
Still had some shopping to do so bundle up and out the door
I wasn't the only one
Really?
Honey what are you wearing?
Having a laugh
It's a bird. It's a plane.
Time for a pint?
Yes it was.
Lunch
Kelly's Pub right next to Mourne's Seafood
Bells were peeling as I walked out so A.D. (after drink)
time for mass.

Quick visit.  I fear lightening bolts so headed home.
Dinner out tonight so need to rest up. Fabulous dinner at Deane's of Queens.
Bernie, Moira and I. Lots of laughs. Couldn't have gotten a better send off.
Back to the megalopolis.

Unsinkable

Visited the Titanic Museum this morning. Enjoyed it. Saw Charlie for the first time although the art piece has been there all the time. That freaks me out when I notice something and it's NOT new.
The exterior is so innovative hard not to keep looking for another angle to shoot.

As the weather changes and the sun appears, the beauty is reflected in the structure
That is a reflection in the water element that surrounds the museum.
They have to know
Irish immigrants arriving at Ellis Island
Remember the big yellow cranes Sampson and Goliath from an earlier post about the view from the guestroom window?  Same company that help build the ship, Harland and Wolff..
Where the ship was designed
The workers
Bending the frames
Huge
There's a movie theatre where they project images taken from one of the submersibles visits. Shoes are seen on the sea floor. Eerie!
The bow of the Titanic resting on the ocean floor

From here sauntered back to the apartment to ride with Scott out to the animal sanctuary where he volunteers.  Might heart is still broken seeing all the dogs, rabbits, cats either abandoned or turned in. Disturb to have seen two brought in today. One a black lab who had been with a family since he was a puppy.
Another a beagle mix who was distressed and shaking. Both sweet, sweet demeanors.  It's a no kill shelter thank gawd but why give up your pet who is part of your family. I shall never understand. It's cold tonight, those dogs are outside, alone.  They'll have blankets and will be in covered spaces but what are they thinking? Why am I here? What did I do?
I did spend over an hour walking a nice border collie named Buster.  This fella wanted to run and took some control to walk as he wanted to pull you and wouldn't sit when asked. However, a very sweet face and demeanor. Another dog owned as a puppy, family dog, given up.  Whoever had him didn't mistreat him but never leash trained him either.
Told you a sweet, sweet boy
Spent over an hour walking Buster in the nearby Whitespots Country Park. Still being developed (opened in 95) the area was an lead mine until 1910.
This was a windmill used to grind something and I believe used as a GOT location in season 1.
After sharing some love with the two new surrenders Scott and I left heading for a grocery run at the large Tesco store outside Belfast proper.
Cab't stop thinking about those two dogs. I'm sad.
