Below is my healing cocoon. Where I spent most of yesterday.
Quiet, peaceful, comfortable.
At one point in time Scott knocked on the door to announce that the famous giant crane Samson was moving the roof off of a oil platform part. Point of interest: the condos where Bernie lives are in the Queen's Island area of Belfast. Still a working harbor.
There are two gigantic cranes in the Harland and Wolff shipyard which are easily scene from the guestroom of Bernie's place. The cranes were named Samson and Goliath and they are HUGE. So, I fling open the curtains, walk out to the deck to watch and snap pics. Ta da.
The roof was over the big yellow thingee ( how great a word is thingee?!). Has now been lifted off and is being set down.
Slowly
Closer
Almost there
Wee bit more
Done.
I've already noted that the apartment high rise is also near the new Titanic Museum. Adjacent to the Museum and seeable from the deck off the living room is an open space. Recently, end of October, the Belfast Art Festival took place and a focal point was Cuban born artist
Jorge Rodriquez-Gerada's 11 acre land art portrait of a young girl making a wish. Sand, wooden pegs, grass, soil, were all used to create the face. The first picture is actually a screen capture. Bernie's apartment complex is in the bottom left hand corner. Her building, the last one facing the water.
So here's the shot I took from the balcony.
Pretty darn interesting don't you think?
Love creativity on this scale. It inspires, awes, and amazes.
Other than that I slept, read, emailed, and planned my driving route from Belfast to Dingle. Will be about a 7 hour adventure if I take a few backroads which I want to do. The gorgeous countryside beckons me and the cameras.
Off course we will have to see how cooperative Mother Nature intends to be.
If she's being a bitch I'll take the main highways but if she's playing nice some main highways and byways but mostly the wee small back roads.
More later.
It's now 4:30pm Belfast time. I'm watching an old X Files (one of those during the first two seasons in Canada) Here are 2 pics of this morning's sunrise.
I don't think the stairway leading up to Bernie's office is off limits. You'd think you were in LA anyway.
Took a very interesting Game of Thrones tour today. Impressive. Should be another outstanding season.
