This is Seamus. Renting a car in Belfast was quite the experience. Wanted an economy car but they were all stick shifts. Did that in 97, wasn't doing it again.
I can drive a shift but why? So got bumped up to a larger vehicle which was roomy, quiet and diesel BUT on the wee roads it took some getting used to.
That whole peripheral vision thing, especially when you are driving on the opposite side of the road. Now Seamus and I are best buds. Haven't re-filled the tank and have driven nearly 400 miles. Nice. Seamus is also not this pretty anymore. A Mud hog is how he looked yesterday but with today's rain he will have a nice bath.
Not much to say about the long drive from Belfast to Dingle. Numerous round a bouts. Lord knows I'm a whiz at them now. Scott was nice enough offer GPS for the car but I decided to go old school with a map and my good sense of direction. Did great. One missed turn but that cost me 10 minutes at most.
The fact the car is big makes it hard to turn around on the tiny roads and then you have to find a place to turn around. Driveways and turnouts are NOT plentiful. Made it to Dingle around 4pm. After I got settled in my room, drove into town and had a pint at the Dingle Pub. The only other people in the bar were a loud group of Bostonians. Guess there was a tour of 96 who had been in the area for a few days. Drove back to the B and B. Went upstairs to my comfortable room and fell right to sleep. The Slea Head drive awaited in the morning.
